Save the Date! BWFMP Spring Garage Sale is September 16 & 17, 2011 - 9am-3pm Friday and Saturday It’s time to gear up now for the Fall Sale! Mallard Pond challenges the rest of BWFMP to see who can compete with them for a record number of sales on their street. It counts even if you just put a table out for a few hours and visit with your neighbors. Nominations will be accepted but take some pictures and e-mail me about the activity on your street. The best street will be featured in the newsletter! There were requests for coffee, cookies, donuts, etc which have been sold at prior sales. Get the kids busy, they can make some money, too! Our teen neighbors became wandering minstrels and made money for band camp. Don’t have much to sell? Call your family and friends and have them bring things, the more the merrier! Whatever doesn’t sell can be donated. Many charities will pick up the items. Signs and arrows directing people to individual sales were really helpful and many thanks to all for taking signs down after the sale. One “out-of-towner” commented that our sale competes well with German Village and it was worth the trip because of so much activity. Other neighborhoods had sales, too, but that just generated more interest and brought people out to see what was going on. There was a bidding war, on Mallard Pond, for a riding mower priced at $20.00!What was the best deal on your street? The BWFMP Community signs are put out two weeks in advance with additional signs and flags added on sale days. Ads are put in the Dispatch, This Week (print and online), Pickerington Sun and Craigslist. Craigslist is a great place to advertise your individual sale and list items of particular interest and it is FREE! (See Garage Sale Tips for details). BWFMP ads are drawing the traffic for the sale. It is really important for members to participate so the momentum continues to build and our Garage Sales stay at the top of the list to attend. This is our biggest community event, at the present time, and we’d like to continue it for your benefit and that of your neighbors! You’ll reap the benefit of taking an active part in your community and make some money for “back to school” while getting rid of stuff. Please join us! If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to call or contact me at mbachman@insight.rr.com. Maureen Bachman |
